What’s a book or movie that genuinely scared you?

Neither the movie nor the book scared me so much as traumatized me. The Strays, not well known I don’t think, portrayed the worst possible consequences of abandonment, resulting in a horrific death and more abandonment. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was also horrific, with a monster’s placid exterior hiding the evil underneath. Both left me a little shell shocked, and I will never forget them.

Scary movies and books there are aplenty, but the ones that are more subtle, and that make you wonder about hidden dangers, are more lasting in their affect, for me at least
