What does it mean to be a good person?

(Definition from Merriam Webster)
Despite what the “Right” says in the U.S., empathy is what makes someone a good person, as opposed to the psychopaths in the U.S. government. How can a government work on behalf of its countries people without understanding – truly understanding – their needs.
Without empathy, where would good feelings come from? I suspect from the belittling and abusing of those you have power over, and that’s not a positive thing, and in my book, immoral. Day to day interactions between people would be fraught with defensiveness and offensiveness, depending on the power dynamics at play.
I’m not explaining this well, I know. A bit tired at the moment. I hope what I’m trying to say is coming across. Empathy is what makes the difference in how people treat each other. It’s 2026. It’s time to care for and about each other, not to dismiss the needs and feelings of others. Such a world would be dark and cruel.
